Beloved wife of Jack, loving mother of Peter, Eileen, Claire, Eamonn and Kevin. Sadly missed by her daughters in law Miriam, Cathleen and Barbara, son in law John and all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Dr. Sylvia Dixon (née Finley) of Charleville Road, Rathmines, Dublin, and formerly of London and Manchester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday 24 March in her 89th year.  She was in the loving care of Orwell Healthcare nursing home, Rathgar.

Having graduated with an M.D. from the University of Manchester, Sylvia practiced as a consultant psychiatrist initially in England and then in Ireland.  She also served for many years on the Board of Directors of HAIL, the mental health housing association.

‍ ‍

She was predeceased by her husband Victor and daughter Ros.

‍ ‍

She is much loved and dearly missed by her sister Helen, daughter Corinna, son Terry, grandchildren Arianna, Naoise, India and Elizabeth, son-in-law Mike, Terry’s partner Helen, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours. and friends.

After reposing in Massey Bros. Funeral Home (D6WAC82) on Friday evening, March 27th from 5:30pm to 7pm, a service to celebrate Sylvia’s life will be held at the Garden Chapel, Mount Jerome (D6WHY98) on Saturday afternoon at 3:45pm, followed by a cremation.

Beloved daughter of the late Peter and Peggy Swords, much loved sister of Berna Tyndall, (Melbourne) and the late Rita Gilligan (Templeogue). Frances will be forever loved and dearly missed by her sister, nieces Eileen and Karen, nephews Brian, Peter and Ronan and their families, cousins Jean, Joan and Noel O’Carroll, extended family and especially Fran’s wonderful neighbours and her community in Springfield.
